The City of Somerville is announcing new dates for the Wards 4 and 5 ‘Slice of the City’ events that were previously postponed due to weather: 

  • Ward 5: Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Trum Field Playground, 1 Franey Road (at Cedar St.) 
  • Ward 4: Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Healey Schoolyard, 5 Meacham Street 

All events run from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, visit somervillema.gov/slice.  

 
 

Hybrid meeting will be held Wednesday, May 28 at 6 p.m.

 The City of Somerville Water & Sewer Department invites all community members to a public hearing to review proposed Water and Sewer rates for Fiscal Year 2026. Water and Sewer rates are typically adjusted each year. This year’s higher-than-usual increase is due in part to the fact that no rate adjustments were approved last year. The Water and Sewer Department’s proposal this year aims to close that gap to ensure the city can continue funding essential infrastructure improvements and maintain reliable service.

Roadmap for successful community arts center reflects nearly three years of community feedback. City issues call for Somerville Armory Advisory Board Members.
 
After an intensive community engagement process, the City of Somerville has now released its Master Plan for establishing its Armory building as a public community arts center, which would place Somerville among only a handful of communities nationwide with a public-owned arts and culture center. The plan comes at a time when private arts spaces and studio costs are under increasing pressure in the Boston region and in Somerville. This cultural investment is fitting for a city known for its high concentration of artists, creative festivals, and steadfast support of the arts.
