Somerville Community Maple Syrup Boil Down

On February 22, 2020, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

The Friends of the Community Growing Center’s volunteers have been busy tapping local sugar maple trees and collecting their sap across the Tufts University campus.  Join them on Saturday, March 7, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for the Boil Down – a free event for all – and experience the process of boiling sap into maple syrup. Taste fresh local syrup, learn how to make your own, and connect with other folks in the community.

The Boil Down will take place at the Somerville Community Growing Center, 22 Vinal Ave., just outside Union Square. Rain date is March 14, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Learn more about The Growing Center at www.thegrowingcenter.org.

The 2020 Somerville Maple Syrup Project is coordinated by the Somerville Community Growing Center with the help of the Friends of the Community Growing Center, Tufts University, Remnant Brewery, Neighborhood Restaurant, and many volunteers.

And, if you’d like to help with preparations and day-of activities, they have lots of opportunities for volunteers! To get involved with the project, contact them at volunteer@thegrowingcenter.org.
