After losing in the first round of the playoffs vs. Pentucket Regional with a score of 34-0, the Somerville Highlanders Varsity Football team played a constellation match back home at Dilboy Stadium last Friday, November 8.

The game was played against the Bedford High School Buccaneers, who came to Dilboy after losing their first round playoff match with a final score of 39-21 to the Indians out of Amesbury High School. The results were not what most expected, as the Highlanders lost a tough one with a final score of 34-14.

The struggles for Somerville came in the second half of the game as they failed to score a single point in either the third or fourth quarters. All 14 points for the Highlanders were scored in the 2nd quarter of the game, while on the Buccaneers side eight points were scored in the first quarter and 13 points were scored in the 2nd and 4th quarters respectively. Neither team scored in the 3rd quarter.

The Highlanders Football Cheerleading squad also said goodbye to their seniors, who will be graduating next spring from Somerville High School.

The Highlanders fall to 2-8 on the season and will hope to bounce back into the win column as their next game will be played on Friday, November 15, at Newburyport High School vs. the Clippers at 7:00 p.m., before the big Thanksgiving match at Russell Field vs. rival school Cambridge Rindge and Latin at 10:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, November 28.
