Not all Yankee fans are bad

An alleged Yankees fan assaulted two women at a bus stop on Friday.
According to the police report, Concepcion Miranda, 38, of Broadway, supposedly threatened the women with a knife at the bus stop outside Shaws on Broadway. He was arrested and charged minutes later and just down the street for assault with a dangerous weapon.
“The description of the suspect was a male, wearing a Yankees hat and a brown jacket,” wrote Officer James M. Donovan in his report.
Wearing a Yankees cap alone, could make anyone stand out in a Boston town. In this case it helped police nab a suspect.
Almost immediately, Officer James Lawson of the Housing Police radioed that he had a subject matching the description less than two blocks away walking in front of the Fire Station,” according to Donovan.
When a team of police approached Miranda, his hand was still clutching the knife.
“We immediately grabbed the suspect’s hands and placed them on the roof of our car. As the suspect put his hands on the roof, he released a knife he had gripped in his right hand,” wrote Donovan.
The two young women who told police they had been threatened at knifepoint, were waiting inside the safety of an unmarked police car just down the street. They were driven to the location where the arrest was made and both said Miranda was the man who had approached them with his knife. The girls told police he came within just a few feet of them, knife in hand and swearing. The girls fled from the bus stop, seeking help in the nearby store.
‚ÄúBased on the witness statements, the description given by them of the suspect and the knife found in Mr. Miranda’s hand, he was placed under arrest for two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. The knife was confiscated, tagged and submitted into evidence,‚Äù Donovan concluded in his report.
