Results from the Cambridge meet held on Wednesday, May 2, at Danehy Park are as follows:

Nicole Genard took first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.8, and also placed first in the long jump with a distance of 16’8. She also took first in the javelin throw with a 120’0.

The 200 was won by Gelynne Berger, finishing in 26.8.

Melissa Baptista took top spot in the high jump at 4’6.

In the triple jump, Michel-le Meranda placed first with a 30’8.

The victory earned the girls the GBL Championship, which was their fifth outdoor title in a row. The seniors will graduate having lost only one meet in four years of indoor and outdoor track, which would be 31-1 record.

“This was a very intense meet,” said Coach Charles O’Roarke. “We did very well early in the meet, sweeping the javelin, triple jump and long jump. But Cambridge dominated in the running events, bringing them back and making the meet a tossup before the last running event, the 200m. Gelynne Berger ran the race of her career and came from behind to win the 200m with a personal best time of 26.8, which gave us the victory.  It was a great meet and the girls bounced back to beat the team that had defeated them indoors. This was definitely a win to remember. I am very happy for the seniors who will graduate having reclaimed the GBL title.”

At the MSTCA freshman/sophomore meet held on Saturday, May 5, at Newton South High School, no one scored, but the participants were: 100m, Saragrace Magre, 14.14; 200m, Kaylee Lima, 30.54, Catherine Nakato-31.14; Delmi Hernandez, Mile, 6:06; Triple Jump, Melissa Baptista, 32’0; Shot Put, Kellie Hagerty, 26’9; 4x100m Relay, 56.54, Saragrace Magre, Catherine Nakato, Kaylee Lima, and Melissa Baptista.

The Weston High School twilight meet on Saturday, May 5, saw the girls having a great night in this select meet held under the lights at Weston.

Nicole Genard broke the meet record in the javelin with a throw of 136’4″. This broke the previous mark of 124’8″ set by Katherine Poulin, of Acton-Boxboro High School, set in 2010. That is Nicole’s best throw so far. Nicole also finished second in the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.28 and ran the anchor leg of the 100m Relay that finished second.

Gelynne Berger placed third in the 200m with a time of 27.00 and Alison Kaba finished fifth in the 100m with a time of 13.41.

The 4x100m Relay team placed second with a time of 51.03. Running were Alison Kaba, Gelynne Berger, Michel-le Meranda, and Nicole Genard.

Genard was selected the Outstanding Female Performer for her record setting Javelin performance and her second place in the Hurdles and Relay.
