On 11/9/21 at approximately 3:14 p.m., Somerville Police responded to Gilman St. and Walnut St. for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile female suffering from leg and head pain. The victim stated she was attacked by two females and struck in the head with a rock.

Somerville’s free community digital fabrication lab, FabVille, is now open for in-person use at Somerville High School (SHS).
FabVille provides all Somerville residents with free workspace and access to 3D printers, laser cutters, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines to inspire innovative design and prototyping. The lab is open Monday through Thursday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. for SHS students and faculty and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for community members. Before visiting, all participants must sign up for a free membership at FabVille.org.

Our hearts are broken to hear the passing of Sal Ferro (our photographer Claudia Ferro’s husband). Sal and Claudia have been married since they were young and raised a big loving family together here in Somerville. Sal was a great father, you could see that in his family who were by his side every step of the way helping him through his sickness.
Sal will be missed so much.
Our condolences go out to Claudia and her family.
We will update when the arrangements are announced.
Somerville Police Officers seized approximately 87 lbs. of illegally possessed marijuana in an apartment on Artisan Way. The street value of this seizure is estimated to be approximately $174,000. This is an active investigation and Somerville Police urges anyone with information regarding this seizure to call the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1600 extension 7234.

Last week, a Somerville Police officer traveling on Artisan Way observed a parked, running vehicle obstructing the crosswalk adjacent to Kay Jewelers located at 360 Artisan Way.
The officer knew this location to be a common place for a getaway vehicle to wait when committing a theft in one of the adjacent stores.
