The Center Arts at the Armory is proud to present Haitian Roots band Lakou Mizik on tour from Haiti on Friday, May 6, at 7:00 p.m. as part of Arts at the Armory’s Spotlight Series and in celebration of Haitian Heritage Month. Opening the show is Boston-based Toussaint the Liberator. Please see below for ticket information. On Sunday, May 1, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Somerville-911 Communications Center received multiple calls for shots fired in the area of 480 Mystic Avenue. Upon arrival, Officers discovered 10-9mm casings in the parking lot at Central Convenience, located at 460 Mystic Avenue. Officers also discovered ballistic damage to windows at the rear of 7 Memorial Road where bullets entered a window of a bedroom where children were sleeping. There are no known injuries at this time or evidence of injuries. Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call the Somerville Police Department at 617-625-1600 ext. 7229 or leave an anonymous tip at somervillepd.com.

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic (Pfizer) April 30

A walk-in family COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held Saturday, April 30, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at CHA Somerville Pediatrics, 236 Highland Ave. There will be free ice cream, $25 gift cards for every vaccination, and you can meet Mirabel from Encanto. The Pfizer vaccine will be available for all people 5 years and up, and boosters will be available for all people 12 years and up. Walk-ins are accepted, or you can preregister here. The clinic is free, regardless of immigration status or health insurance. Identification is not required.

Growing Center’s Earth Day celebration kicks off spring season

The Somerville Community Growing Center kicked off its spring season with Earth Day/Arbor Day: Celebrating the Earth and Our Community on Sunday, April 24. Ninety-three guests, children and adults alike, attended this activity-filled session on a cool, cloudy spring afternoon. In addition, two dozen volunteers and presenters came together to help make the event memorable.
