Numerous politicians from various offices and former elected officials stopped into Sally’s O’Brien’s yesterday to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
Among those who attended were Bill Galvin, Secretary of State; Senator Diana Dizoglio, candidate for State Auditor; Terrence Kennedy Governor’s Council; Kim Driscoll, Mayor of Salem and candidate for Lieutenant Governor; Peter Koutoujian Sheriff Middlesex , Somerville City Councilor Kristen Strezo; Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne; Marian Ryan Middlesex District Attorney; former Congressman Michael Capuano, former Somerville Mayor Dorothy Kelly Gay and former Somerville Aldermen, Maryann Hueston , Kenny Joyce and Bob Mcwatters. It was a great night and a real political who’s who.

Somerville-Cambridge Elder Services is joining with other area service providers in a campaign to encourage COVID-19 booster shots.
The Metro Boston Aging and Disability Resource Consortium (ADRC) was recently awarded a grant from the Administration for Community Living to promote COVID-19 booster vaccinations to the populations they serve. The Metro Boston ADRC is comprised of community organizations that support older adults, persons with disabilities, and their caregivers: Boston Center for Independent Living, Minuteman Senior Services, Mystic Valley Elder Services, Somerville Cambridge Elder Services and Springwell.

Before John Cena and Hulk Hogan there was Bruno Sammartino and Gorilla Monsoon.
In the late ‘60’s and ‘70’s my friends and I went to the old Boston Garden to watch wrestling. Guys like BoBo Brazil, Professor Turo Tanaka and Andre the Giant thrilled us with their highly choreographed moves. We loved it and bought into the antics. We watched it on TV and we went to see the live matches. My pals and I actually used to wrestle down in one of the guy’s cellars. We couldn’t do a flying drop kick, but we did try to toss each other around in our makeshift “ring.”

Somerville’s indoor mask mandate ended Saturday, March 5. The City of Somerville will lift its mask requirement for city buildings and events starting Monday, March 21. This means all city-issued mask mandates are now either lifted or set to lift. Some federal and state mask requirements remain in effect. The Somerville School Committee voted to make masks optional in Somerville Public Schools as of Monday, March 14. The decisions to lift the local mask mandates follow current guidance from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). But businesses can still set their own mask policies, so make sure to check before heading in.
