A new shop in Teele Square, Yego Coffee, opened its doors for the first time last week.

For the co-owning couple, Francois and Fatuma Tuyishime, things are off to a strong start. “A lot of people came on the first Saturday. It was almost overwhelming,” Francois Tuyisheme said, gesturing that the line started out the door. “And it never stopped.”

Finalists will participate in public interviews between March 27 and April 4

Somerville Police officers were dispatched to La Quinta Hotel in the early morning hours of Monday this week on a report of a check-condition.

Upon arrival, the officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated that he had seen a car with a Florida registration speeding through the hotel parking lot as well as revving the engine.

Since I’ve been retired, I’ve been watching too much TV. I remember when I was working, I used to think that the perfect life would be to have nothing to do and just watch TV all day. Well, I do other things now but I have to admit the TV is a big part of my life. It always has been. I asked our readers to share their thoughts on what they feel was the best TV show ever. Earlier tonight companies operated at a Working Fire at the Winter Hill Yacht Club located at 500 Artisan Way in Assembly Row. The fire was a fully involved cabin cruiser style vessel. The fire was contained to the single vessel thanks to an aggressive attack from the dock using hand lines and by our marine unit partners from the water. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

CROWLEY, John M. of Venice, FL, formerly of Somerville, MA, died peacefully on November 17, 2022.  A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice, Florida and he was interred at the Sarasota National Veterans Cemetery.  He was the beloved son of the late Cornelius and Bridget (O’Brien) Crowley of Somerville.  Loving brother of Francis Crowley of Easthampton, Eleanor Healey and her husband Richard of West Roxbury, Margaret Crowley-Rousseau and her late husband Richard of Marshfield, Kevin Crowley of Somerville and the late Cornelius Crowley, Jr.  Also survived by loving nieces, nephew and grandnephews.

Last Thursday, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley held a Coffee with the Congresswoman event at Somerville High School. The event was co-hosted by Somerville Mayor Katjana Ballantyne, where Pressley answered questions from constituents and gave updates on her work in Congress.

Former City Councilor Bob McWatters, Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, Gabriel, Mayor Katjanna Ballantyne, and Sally O’Brien’s owner Liam Mannion.

Liam Mannion, proprietor of Sally O’Brien’s, and former City Councilor Bob McWatters, hosted a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at Sally O’Brien’s, 335 Somerville Ave., last Friday. Many local residents and elected officials stopped by for this annual celebration which, seems to be growing more popular each year. It was a night of great food, spirits and Irish music.
