An attempted robbery at a 7-11 store brought Somerville, Medford and Cambridge police units, along with a SWAT team, to a Medford church in the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to reports, Cambridge police officers had an encounter with the suspect in Somerville at approximately 1:45 a.m., at which time the suspect got away and reportedly made his way towards College Ave.

Police believe that at some point the suspect entered St. Clement Parish, where wet footprints were reportedly found, but a search of the area proved unsuccessful.

Authorities believe that the suspect may be armed and dangerous, and was possibly involved with an armed robbery that had taken place at PLS Check Cashing in Medford.

The search for the suspect is still underway. If anyone has information as to the identity or whereabouts of the suspect they are encouraged to notify the authority by calling 911 immediately.

Further details of the incident will be provided as they become available.
