An armed robbery and a dog biting incident has one aldermen asking city officials to do more to keep the community path safe.

Ward Six Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz submitted an order at Thursday’s meeting, “That the chief of police update this board on the robbery that occured on the community path near Willow Avenue and what additional steps police are taking to secure the path, particularly after dark.”

Gewirtz said increased lighting could improve safety in the area.

“We need to do more,” she said. “To tell the truth, sometimes I feel uncomfortable walking the path at night and I choose the street instead.”
