Parking control officers are writing tickets for cars parked illegally during street sweeping hours even as roads are not being cleaned.

“It’s a double problem,” said Ward Six Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz. “People are getting tickets and we’re not getting clean streets.”

New, “state of the art” street sweeping vehicles are taking longer to clean streets and not finishing during the scheduled hours, said Ward One Alderman Bill Roche.

Street sweeping hours will be extended, running from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. No ticketing will be done in the first 30 days of the new hours.
