Owner Babu Koganti is continuing negotiations in hopes of reopening the Rosebud in the near future.

Rosebud Bar and Kitchen, 381 Summer Street in Davis Square, was closed abruptly approximately two months ago by owner Babu Koganti. At the July public Licensing Commission meeting, Koganti said the closure was done to have “some of the floor re-done” and that he is “in the process of negotiating a building purchase from the landlord.” They are “already in legal negotiations,” and if Koganti does not buy the building, then the plan may be to have the owner find a new tenant.

He estimated it would be resolved within two to three weeks back in July. For the time being, Koganti’s license is down to zero hours until negotiations are finished. This means Rosebud will be closed for an indeterminate amount of time.

It was reported in May that, in addition to floors being replaced, a new HVAC system is being installed, and the menu is being updated. It was also reported that Koganti is involved with other restaurants, such as Madras Dosa Co., Godavari, and Don’t Tell Aunty.

Babu Koganti could not be reached for comment.
