City of Somerville reopening search for next Chief of Police

Mayor Katjana Ballantyne is announcing the reopening of Somerville’s nationwide search for its next Chief of Police. The comprehensive search will be led by the city’s Racial and Social Justice and Human Resources Departments. GovHR, a national public-sector executive recruitment firm, will continue to act as the city’s external consultant to identify candidates with the requisite experience and principles to lead the Somerville Police Department. 

Interested candidates will find more information and direct links to a detailed job brochure and the job posting at somervillema.gov/policechief.  

The Police Chief Selection Committee will reconvene with updated membership and meet over the course of several months to review candidates and select finalists to submit to the Mayor and City Council for consideration. The meetings will be open to the public and the schedule will be shared via all City communications channels in the coming weeks.

  • Officer Christine Bork, Somerville Police Department
  • Kevin Dickinson, Somerville Constituent
  • Denise Lauers, Somerville Constituent

  • Lori Segall, Somerville Constituent
  • Anne Gill, Director of Human Resources
