Another Poem for Sandra

I decided I was lonely—
it occurred to me
eating grilled cheese at the S&S Deli—closing
after 107 years—
the Deli where you used to sit
(often solitary) having dinner
before returning to your empty
apartment on Marion Street
where we friends
once ate turkey dinner
none of us knowing Bob (healthy)
would fall off his roof     replacing tiles
and you (unhealthy) stage 3 maybe 4—
hosting us, would go on for a while…

There is no way to set this table again.
