Our View of the Times – July 15

On July 15, 2026, in Latest News, by The Somerville Times

The Somerville Arts Council’s ArtBeat festival has become a much-beloved annual tradition here in the city for many.

One thing can be said for certain: it brings to the fore some of the most imaginative and unique creations one could ever wish to see, hear, and – sometimes – even feel.

During the heat of summer (held on the third weekend in July), artists and festival goers converge on Davis Square, transforming it into one of the area’s largest and most innovative arts festivals. Each year, they develop a theme that serves as a launching point for artists and the community to express themselves.

This year’s theme, “REVolution,” honors the 250th anniversary of the United States while inviting artists and attendees to creatively explore the spirit of transformation and challenge the status quo.

Music performances on Saturday will occur simultaneously on the Seven Hills and Elm Street stages. During the organized performances, all day long, patrons can visit over 70 vendors. Additional events will take place at Statue Park and Day Street.

We salute SAC’s efforts to present the best our artistic community has to offer to the larger world around us, and eagerly look forward to the next imaginative plot the organization may be hatching for us a year from now.

Admission is free and open to all.

So come out this Saturday, 12:00 – 9:00 p.m., and join in on all the REVolutionary fun. For more info, go to the SCA website: https://somervilleartscouncil.org/events/artbeat-2026-revolution/
