Mayor Katjana Ballantyne and the Somerville Department of Veterans’ Services invite all community members to join in honoring local veterans and our nation’s fallen heroes at the city’s Memorial Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, May 25, rain or shine. 

2025 Events

Parade: 

  • Time:11 a.m. 
  • Starting Point:Davis Square rotary (9/11 Memorial Granite Circle site) 

Accessibility: 

  • Four temporary accessible parking spaces along Winter Street 
  • Viewing platform at Statue Park; spaces available on a first-come basis 

Show your support with a salute, wave, or cheer as the parade makes its way in honor of those who served. Leading this year’s procession as Grand Marshal is Somerville’s own Thomas G. Kelley, a Medal of Honor recipient. The parade will proceed west from Davis Square on Holland Street through Teele Square and onto Broadway, ending at the Veterans Cemetery between Alewife Brook Parkway and North Street. 

Remembrance Ceremony: 

  • Time: Immediately following the parade 
  • Location:Somerville Veterans Cemetery (between Alewife Brook Parkway and North Street) 

Accessibility:  

  • Temporary accessible parking spaces available on the cemetery side of Broadway 

Join us as community members, veterans, and city officials will gather to pay tribute to those who gave their lives in service to our country. The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Ballantyne and Director of Veterans Services, Jerome Thomas.
