SUITED tells the story of Bindle & Keep, a Brooklyn-based tailoring company that specializes in clothing for people who are LGBTQ, gender-nonconforming, or nonbinary. Clothier duo Rae and Daniel take a holistic approach to their work, considering each client’s personal narrative, which becomes inextricable from the creation of the perfect custom-made suit. From Derek’s emotional journey as he prepares for his wedding to Everett, a law student in a conservative environment, or Melissa, who simply wants to look good for a 40th birthday party – the need for well-fitting garments represents deeper issues of identity, empowerment, and the importance of feeling happy in one’s body.

The City of Somerville is developing a campus plan for Central Hill, home to City Hall, Somerville High School, and the Central Library. It also has a rich history; it was Somerville’s first civic space and park and played a significant role in the Revolutionary War. It is currently home to many of the war memorials in Somerville.

During April vacation, 57 Somerville High School students, 7 chaperones and an additional 4 adults travelled to Costa Rica. The chaperones, Alicia Kersten, Lisa Machnik, Marie Foreman, Beth O’Connor, Mike Maloney, Joe Marino and Naima Sait, along with Science Teachers, Lisa Curtin, Maureen Quigley (and her mom) and Roni Teich accompanied students on a cultural, scientific and environmental adventure.

Last week at the grand opening of the Global Center for Cleantech Innovation at Greentown Labs, Governor Charlie Baker said, “This is ground zero right now for all the big thinking that’s going on in clean energy and climate solutions, right here in Somerville. And you all sit here like, ‘Well, yeah, sure.’ But this is really special.” And he’s right. Having the largest cleantech incubator in the country (and one that’s home to 85 member companies from six different countries) sitting right on Somerville Avenue is really special.
