Please join Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, the Somerville Department of Health and Human Services, and the Somerville High School Gender and Sexuality Awareness Alliance (GSAA) on Wednesday, November 20, at 2:45 p.m., for a ceremony in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance. The ceremony will take place on the City Hall concourse, 93 Highland Ave. The ceremony’s speaking agenda will include Mayor Curtatone, HHS Deputy Director Nancy Bacci, and representatives from GSAA, followed by a raising of the Transgender Flag. The event is open to the public, and all community members are welcome.

Somerville Arts Council grant recipient Ian Coss, puppeteer Putu Rekeyasa, and arts scholar Panji Wilimantara, three of the four artists who perform together as The Brothers Campur, visited Somerville High School on Monday, November 4.

Mayoral Race, Desire to Participate Drew Voters

The hotly contested mayoral race and a desire to take part in the democratic process drew voters out on Election Day earlier this month, even if only 25 percent of eligible voters actually made it to the polls.

Somerville.

Seniors and guests were treated to a full course Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

Join the Somerville Museum for the opening reception of our next exhibit, “Faith in a City: Exploring Religion in Somerville, MA.”

The “Faith in a City” project explores a selection of local religious communities through music, photography, interviews and history as a way of better understanding the city. The project also includes some congregations near Somerville where local residents go to worship. The focus is how religion is meaningful to people across the city.
