
Following the Biden Administration’s announcement of a new policy on ICE courthouse arrests, today we dismissed our lawsuit in Ryan et al v. ICE. We are hopeful that this new policy will finally reverse the culture of fear that had been infecting our immigrant communities and their access to our courthouses.

So-called supervised consumption sites offer drug users the ability to take advantage of a clean, medically supervised environment, thus eliminating many risks while additionally offering support for getting clean.
Join a community meeting on Thursday, June 10, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., to learn about supervised consumption sites (SCS) data and research. At the meeting you can learn more about how SCS work, see data from a recently conducted needs assessment and evaluation that includes input from potential clients of the SCS and other community members, and ask questions and share feedback. The newly renovated Somerville Public Library West Branch at 40 College Avenue will open for curbside service starting Tuesday, June 1.
Pickup will be at the building’s new front entrance weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Patrons will be able to select “Somerville/West” when placing holds online starting May 28.

On May 19, at approximately 1:37 a.m., Somerville Police responded to shots fired on Canal Lane. No victims were located. The incident is currently under investigation.

Somerville Police officers were dispatched to a Windsor Street location last Friday evening on reports of a motor vehicle accident with unknown injury.
Upon arrival, the officers observed a vehicle with significant damage and total airbag deployment, and a man, Lamont Sands, of Holbrook, pacing back and forth outside of it.
