
Francis (Frank) Xavier McCann, 75, of Londonderry, NH passed away at home Wednesday May 17, 2023, surrounded by his caring family. Frank was born and raised in Somerville, MA and was a son of the late Dominic and Dorothy (McDonald) McCann. He was happily married for 54 years to his wife Cynthia (Day) McCann. They have been residents of Londonderry for the past 49 years.

The City of Somerville will hold a virtual public hearing on the 2023-2024 One-Year Action Plan Draft on Thursday May 25. Community members are invited to share their input on priority needs related to affordable housing, community development, and homelessness for grants funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through the Community Development Block Grant Program, the Emergency Solutions Grant Program, and the HOME Program.

Join in for one of the last events of a successful Historic Preservation Month in Somerville. Burials, Restoration, & Civil War Monument Talk takes place at Milk Row Cemetery, 438 Somerville Avenue, Tuesday, May 23, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Free.
The Somerville Community Growing Center has announced a full slate of community events for the season, including a performance of Mr. Twister and the Tale of Tornado Alley led by stage director and designer Brenda L. Huggins; Brazilian Harvest Festival (Festa Junina); over a dozen talks and workshops focused on food, fermentation and herbs; story-acting workshops for children; live music performances; poetry and literature; and readings by children’s book authors including Mariana Oscar, Valerie Williams and others. Plus, annual events like the Stuffed Animal Campout; Gathering of the Fairies; Seasonal Salvage Sale; and Harvest Festival. The year 2023 is the Growing Center’s 30th season in operation, marking a major milestone.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scheduled for Friday, May 26, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Healey School
