Shawmut Design and Construction, DLJ Real Estate Capital Partners (DLJ RECP), Leggat McCall Properties (LMP), and Deutsche Finance Group (DFG) commemorated the steel topping off milestone at Building 2, 808 Windsor Street in Somerville, the second Class-A commercial lab building within the Boynton Yards 1.8 million square foot mixed-use life sciences and innovation community, on Friday, March 17.

The annual Ras na hEireann 5K road race, the most genuine Irish race this side of the Atlantic, took place this past Sunday. This race was born in Ireland and named in honor of its famous sister race, the Ras na hEireann International Cross Country held in Termonfechin, County Louth, Republic of Ireland. Bowling is said to be one of the world’s most popular pastimes and recreational activities. It is played by over 120 million participants annually in over 90 countries worldwide, including over 65 million in the United States alone. Traces of its history go back as far as 3200 B.C. in Egypt. Many variations of its cousins have been played throughout the world. This includes nine-pin, ten-pin, curling, lawn bowls, bocce, candlepins and duckpins to name a few. Bowling is an all-inclusive game which doesn’t favor anyone’s physical abilities.

After the long chilling days of winter, it’s nice to know that springtime has officially arrived. We anxiously await the final thaw and balmier days ahead.

One of the finer benefits of New England living is standing witness to the massive explosion of nature’s rebirth and renewal, seemingly amplified here. Grass, trees, wildlife and flowers all seem to go forth and multiply at an astounding rate, as if on cue to the call for “Action!”

Grants support improved discharge process from hospitals to help ease capacity constraints while supporting patients in returning to their communities

The Healey-Driscoll Administration awarded $3 million in grants to acute care hospitals and Aging Services Access Points (ASAPs) across Massachusetts through the Hospital to Home Partnership Program. The program is designed to build partnerships between hospitals and ASAPs to strengthen communication and coordination with community providers.

First in-person college scholarship fundraiser event led by PTAs in five years

Somerville Game Show Night, Somerville Council of PTAs‘ biggest fundraising event of the year, which raises money for its Somerville High School (SHS) college scholarship program, will take place at the Somerville High School Auditorium on Friday, March 31, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The SCES 50^th Celebration at the Somerville Senior Center (167 Holland St.) starts at 11:00 a.m. on March 29.

This free celebration will include a special meal, an educational discussion of the Mediterranean diet, prizes, giveaways, and more. New SCES CEO Marta Corvelo will be there to meet with the community, and SCES will also have information about its new Nutrition vendor and meal options in our community.
