The Huntington Theater has staged the world premiere of Kate Snodgrass’ The Art of Burning at the Calderwood Theater at the Boston Center for the Arts. Directed by Melia Bensussen, the Artistic Director of the Hartford Stage, the play moves to Hartford at the end of its run in Boston, giving audiences all over southern New England plenty of opportunity to enjoy being among the first to embrace this great new drama.

SHS Boy’s Basketball vs Medford

SHS was down 16 – 28 going into halftime. The Highlanders rallied hard in the second half, at one point scoring 12 unanswered points to pull within 5. Medford hung on as SHS lost Thursday’s night game 38 – 43.

Six RSJ community engagement ambassadors will spearhead community-driven outreach for the Public Safety for All Initiative

Somerville warming center extended

West Branch Library open to all for warming on Saturday, closed for general use
 
A section of the West Branch Library began serving as an overnight warming center for persons experiencing homelessness Friday night. The city  will keep that function running 24/7 until Sunday morning. All other persons are also welcome to use the library for warming from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. But they will be closed for general library use otherwise on Saturday. The East and Central Branches will open as planned and are available to all for warming and general use.

Somerville Police Log Jan. 24 – Jan. 30

On 1/24/23 at approximately 11:47 p.m., Somerville Police responded to Grand Union Blvd. for a panic alarm coming from a Lyft driver. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated he picked up a female party at Grand Union Blvd. and when she entered his car, she began kicking the back of his seat and grabbing at him. The suspect left prior to police arrival.
