
James Caroline started out mainly as a Slam poet getting his feet wet at the famed Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, Mass. when it was under the reign of Michael Brown. Since then he has become as respected on the stage as the page. And in fact the poetry is much more important to him than the performance.

Curtatone, the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development, and the Office of Sustainability and Environment have announced a new program for residents designed to reduce energy use – and therefore costs – while encouraging best practices for a sustainable approach to urban living. Funded by a grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE), the Somerville Energy Challenge has been developed with support from Serrafix, a strategic consulting group specializing in ways to save energy, improve transportation systems, and implement smart growth.

On March 11, 2011, I wrote a story about The Brown School in Somerville. In that article, I mentioned my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Chiulli (back then, in the late 50’s, I thought her name was Miss Julie!). She read the article and told her daughter about it. Not only was Mrs.Chiulli my kindergarten teacher, but I also worked with her daughter Mary Ann at Woolworths in Davis Square back in the early 70’s. Mary Ann contacted me and told me that she was planning her mother’s 100th birthday party on December 17 and would I help with the music, etc. I was honored to be able to be a part of such a special day and such a remarkable milestone. Here are some interesting facts about Mary Chiulli’s illustrious life:
