Lynn Liccardo is a woman who is never at a loss for words. This New Jersey native, and resident of the Winter Hill section of Somerville, talks passionately of something many of us have not thought deeply about, namely Soap Operas.

Mayor Joseph Curtatone hosted his Second Annual Fall Reception and Wine Tasting event at The Armory on Highland Avenue last Wednesday evening. Good food, fine wine, jazz music and a full house of friends and supporters made it a spectacular evening for all to enjoy.

Joseph Dixon, 52, of 278 Powderhouse Blvd., November 13, 5:09 p.m., arrested at home on a warrant charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Kwesi George, 21, November 13, 9:06 p.m., arrested at 20 Canal La. on charges of trespassing, abuse prevention order violation, larceny from a building, stalking in violation of a restraining order, witness intimidation, and misdemeanor breaking and entering.

Coordinator will advise city staff on policies and procedures, work with Disabilities Commission,City  Engineer to devise 10-year strategic plan to address accessibility and transparency

Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone announced today that the City of Somerville is currently seeking candidates to fill the position of Disability Coordinator within the Executive Office.  The Coordinator is responsible, in conjunction with the Disability Commission, for advising the city on policies and procedures relating to disabilities and access issues, while providing technical assistance to the city regarding compliance with state and federal disabilities laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  As the city works to upgrade and implement a 10-year Transition Plan which will advise city staff on necessary alternations and improvements to municipal buildings in order to continue to adhere to ADA regulations, the Coordinator will also work with the City Engineer to refine the plan and manage community outreach on disabilities policy. Candidates are being sought for a proposed January 2013 start.

Trash, recycling, and yard waste pickup will be on a normal schedule for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, however they will be delayed by one day for Thursday and Friday, due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. Parking meters will not be enforced on Thursday.

An aerial balloon camera was flying high over high over the Assembly Square construction site in Somerville last week. Balloons of this type are usually flown over work sites to track and monitor different types of movement and take photos with a birds-eye view.

The Friends of the Community Growing Center are pleased to offer fresh evergreen wreaths artistically hand-decorated with an attractive bow and locally grown and wildcrafted plant materials. Wreaths are $30 for orders received by November 28.
