Chief Fire Engineer Kevin Kelleher and the Somerville Fire Department remind all residents that with higher temperatures and dry weather comes the increased risk for fire hazards, and ask residents to take necessary preventive steps in your home to decrease this risk.

Residents or community members who have been displaced or otherwise affected by this morning’s 7-alarm fire on Calvin Street are asked to meet immediately at the Albert F. Argenziano School (290 Washington Street). Members of the Somerville Police and Fire Departments, Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), and the American Red Cross will be on site to provide important information, and to work with you to ensure the safety and security of you and your family members affected by the fire.

The City of Somerville Planning Board voted 4-1 at their meeting last Thursday in favor of the proposal by Somerville Community Corporation (SCC) and developer Cathartes Private Investments to build a five-story housing complex at 181 Washington St.
