Randy Winchester, 60, sits in Somerville’s Aeronaut Brewing Company drinking a cocoa sutra, a beer brewed with cocoa nibs and one of the brewery’s best sellers. Winchester, who has helped develop the ever-expanding 115 beer recipes that have come out of the “Aeronaut lab” says, “Craft beer is beer, but really good beer. It’s an exploration of all the different flavor possibilities instead of just brands.”

Somerville 7th and 8th graders competed in field and running events at the Brune Fieldhouse Track at Somerville High on Wednesday, March 9. The event was sponsored by the SHS Athletic Department and Somerville High School Track PAC.

 

New Circus Group to Perform in Somerville this Weekend

Cirque Us! will be performing for the first time at a fundraiser show in support of their new tour that will kick off Summer 2016. The show will be held at Aircraft Aerial Arts in Somerville, MA on Saturday, March 19. The first ever performance from Cirque Us! will feature high-flying aerialists, wacky clowns, contortionists and tight wire-walkers. Proceeds will raise money for the Summer 2016 tour, which will hit many towns in the New England area.

Poodle skirts, bellbottoms and platform shoes came out of mothballs last Friday as participants in Flashback Friday at The Somerville City Club took a journey back in time and danced the night away to songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s & 90’s. All proceeds benefited the Somerville PTA Scholarship Dinner Dance.

Kennedy Academy for Health Careers Huskies (20-3) and the Prospect Hill Academy Lady Wizards (18-0) arrived for the 11th Annual Massachusetts Charter School Athletic Organization Girls’ Basketball Championship Game this past Friday night.

Rás na hÉireann USA 5Km 2016 in the books

It was a very exciting race day in Somerville on Sunday as men’s winner Andrea Sorgato became a three time champion of the race with a winning time of 14:48 and barely beating John Schilkowsky – who finished in 14:49 – by one second. Sorgato improved on his 2011 winning time of 14:49 and his 2010 winning time of 15:36.
