Bevan Weissman met me at my usual perch at the Sherman Cafe in Union Square, Somerville. He is a man who sports a well-trimmed beard and intense and expressive eyes. Weissman is a graduate of Brown University, and a resident of Davis Square. According to him his mission as an artist is to “Weld art and science and facilitate community and personal communication.” A daunting task to some, but it seems this young artist is up for it.

I can’t believe I’ve been doing this article for almost 4 years. Every week, for nearly four years. It’s been a pleasure and I appreciate all the nice things people have said about the stories. As director of Somerville’s singing Sunsetters, our season begins Thursday night at the annual fireworks celebration at Trum Field. Then it’s performances Monday through Thursday nights until August 18. My other summer program, Project STAR begins on Tuesday, July 5, and runs until August also.

When it comes to planning we spend a lot of time talking about buildings, infrastructure and roads. Obviously those are the physical structures we have to pay for or permit when a new project comes along, but those are not the reasons why we engage in planning in the first place. People are our priority.
