The Somerville Police Department held a Haunted House at the West District substation, 1154 Broadway on October 29th and 30th. This was a huge success with over 500 people going thru the Haunted House, and 300 treat bags given out to kids.

I would like to thank West District Patrol Commander Captain Paul Trant for organizing this event and the community for their support. A special thank you to the following Police Department employees, City employees, residents, and students who volunteered their time; Patricia Romano, Officers Walter Collette, Rich Lavey, Scott Gamble, Natacha Montina-Garcia, Neil Collins and his son Ryan, Bill Rymill, Mike Capasso, Nicky Stiles, Chris Ward, Alan Monaco, Marc Difava and Tom Gardner. E-911 Operator Maureen Lewon, Sean Collier, Jen Caranfa, members of the Somerville Auxiliary Police Department and school crossing guards Carol Jean Cassidy and Joanne Keefe. Nancy Bacci, Phyllis Shea, Cory Mashburn and students from Full Circle School for their Halloween decorations. Patty Melchionno, Amber Lee, Cheri Rolfes, Megan Hunt and college students from Tufts University. Also, Mrs. Linda Trant, who helped her husband plan, setup and organize this Haunted House.

I would also like to thank the following for their financial contributions which made this event possible; the Somerville Lions Club, Red Bones Restaurant, Ms. Rachelle Murray and Ms. Cath Amory. A special thank you to the Somerville Police Employees Association and Mr. Ray Zonghetti for their very generous financial contributions. All donated proceeds were used towards funding this special event.

Sincerely,

Michael S. Cabral
Chief of Police
