Community Journalism 101 Workshop

Saturday, June 15, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Register here: https://www.somervillemedia.org/communityjournalism101/

Community Journalism 101 is a series of free, low-barrier journalism workshops, open to community members of Somerville. These workshops are run by Boston Institute for Nonprofit Journalism (BINJ), in partnership with Somerville Media Center. Participants will learn how to interview people, do background research, write in basic Associated Press style, and cover a range of issues. At the end, we aim to host a network of community journalists and reporters who can work closely on BINJ and SMC content, as well as being able to access other opportunities.

This SMC Digital Literacy program will address a wide spectrum of digital inclusion factors like taking full advantage of utilizing smartphones, researching the internet, learning media production, graphic design, building user friendly websites, becoming a community journalist, deepening media literacy knowledge and in general creating media savvy consumers.
