Detectives looking to catch a thief witnessed a heroin deal on Washington Street Oct. 25, police said.

While conducting an investigation into home break-ins in Ward Two, the detectives allegedly saw a person known to drug unit cops anxiously pacing back and forth on Somerville Avenue. Police said they knew the man to have a reputation for using and selling drugs.

Police monitored the man’s actions and saw him meet with two other men and allegedly conduct a brief hand to hand exchange with Chad Kibbe, 26, of 6 Concord Avenue.

Police said the exchange was consistent with a street level drug deal. They stopped Kibbe and allegedly found a bag of heroin.

He was arrested and charged with possession of a class A drug with intent to distribute.
