Somerville Media Center has a great batch of upcoming workshops and events that will hopefully spark your interest. A new year is indeed for a new you” after all, right?

Upcoming SMC workshops:

 Designing Graphics for Video with Photoshop and Premiere

February 2, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Somerville Media Center, 90 Union Square. Sign at https://www.somervillemedia.org/designinggraphicsforvideo/

Learn Adobe Creative Suite typography tools to take your video productions to the next level. Make templates for titles, lower thirds and over-the-shoulder graphics in Adobe Photoshop and Premiere and learn how alpha channel graphics work. If time allows, the class will end with an introduction to Adobe Illustration.

Grant Writing Workshops

Wednesdays: February 6 and February 13; 6:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Somerville Media Center is offering two workshops with experienced grant writer and educator Ellen Gugel. The workshops are geared to non-profit professionals, artists and community members who are interested in learning how to research applicable grants and create successful proposals.

This SMC Digital Literacy program will address a wide spectrum of digital inclusion factors like taking full advantage of utilizing smartphones, researching the internet, learning media production, graphic design, building user friendly websites, becoming a community journalist, deepening media literacy knowledge and in general creating media savvy consumers.

Let’s Talk About Race is a podcast and radio show that invites people from all backgrounds to engage in courageous conversations around issues related to race. Join host Diane Wong and Somerville Media Center by welcoming back a panel of the past years’ guests who will share their experiences and expertise. Afterwards, join us for a community meal and participate in racial dialogues facilitated by our panelists.
