Gilman Square GLX Block Party set for 9/15; “A Ball for Squares” planned in Ball Square 9/30.

With construction for the Green Line Extension Project (GLX) now underway and ramping up in the coming weeks, the City of Somerville is partnering with local business organizations to host pop-up events at locations for several of the future GLX stations. Please join us for one of the following events this month, and stay tuned for additional events as GLX construction continues.

Gilman Square Block Party September 15

Join the new Gilman Square Neighborhood Association, the City of Somerville, GLX Constructors, and the GLX team to celebrate the GLX coming to Gilman Square. Enjoy Tipping Cow Ice Cream, Winter Hill Brewing Company, food from local restaurants, Neighborhood Produce, live music, a bouncy house, and other kids’ activities.

Later this month, work is expected to begin to demolish the Homan’s Building on Medford St., with full demolition planned for October (subject to change). The September 15 event will act as an informal Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Gilman Square station and construction, so come join us to celebrate exciting new changes for the Gilman Square area!
