This group has taped a few hundred postcards to all the poles around the neighborhood. They should be fined for each violation as it is against ordinance. Will the organizer be taking them all down at least, and perhaps cleaning all the other trash flyers from those who think our neighborhood is their private billboard and also never take stuff down?

Unfortunately, everything in this city is pretty much a free-for-all right now. Plaster flyers all over light poles? Do construction work on Sunday? Ignore the bike rules of the road? I feel like it’s every man for himself. I remember in the days when Capuano was Mayor and he and his staff cared about the city and how it looked. If you plastered signs anywhere without permission they would remove them, then let you know that that wasn’t how we did things. Look around (if you can see beyond the construction), the city is so dirty right now. Are we going for the NYC look? If so, I think we’re about there.

So did they take the flyers down? This great event is well-run and has been held in Union Square annually for several years now. I was there for a couple of hours yesterday and scored some nice little gems to add to my collection. Some people complain about anything and everything, and they should lighten up.
