Several Somerville High School athletes each received $500 Somerville High School Highlander Book Awards made possible via donations from last year’s Marathon Sports Somerville Bill Rodgers Jingle Bell Run and this year’s Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km.

Pictured are Phillips Magre-New England Champion and State Meet record holder in the 300m, Phillips will be attending Northeastern on a full athletic scholarship in the Fall of 2018, Donovan Johnson will be attending UMass/Boston, Tommy Barton will be attending UMass/Lowell-Engineering, Marcus Thomas-NEC 400m champion with a stunning 49.95 under his belt, will be attending American International College in the Fall of 2018, Coach Dave Dickerson, Youdine Felix-NEC 200m Champion and will be attending Simmons College in the Fall of 2018, Fiona Barondy-Jenkins will be attending Temple University in the Fall of 2018, Jackie Eloi-NEC 100m Hurdles Champion and she will work in ‘Year Up’ program after graduation, Milly Jean and Yuyeng Chen.
