City of Somerville, Groundwork Somerville, and Comcast Cares held its annual Spring Cleanup and Community Barbecue on Saturday, April 22.

Residents in each of the city’s seven wards helped prepare the city for the spring and summer by planting flowers, weeding open spaces, and otherwise cleaning our community following the long winter months.

All participants were invited to a community barbecue immediately following the cleanup from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Blessing of the Bay Boathouse on Shore Drive. The community barbeque featured activities for children and adults including a spring egg hunt, yoga and meditation, and interactive activities to learn about sustainability and the environment.
