Teen shot and killed in Somerville

Update from the DA’s office: The victim in yesterday’s fatal Somerville shooting has been identified as Tenzin Kunkhyen, 16 of Malden.  There are no other updates in the investigation at this time.

The victim in yesterday’s fatal Somerville shooting has been identified as Tenzin Kunkhyen, 16 of Malden.  There are no other updates in the investigation at this time.

Police responded to a home on Farragut Ave. in Somerville late Tuesday afternoon and found a 16-year-old male from Malden with a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased at Mount Auburn hospital.

The preliminary investigation into this matter suggests that the victim was in the residence with other individuals who were known to him and that this is not a random act.

This is an open and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police and Somerville Police. The circumstances surrounding how the shooting occurred are part of this investigation. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending official identification from the Office of the Medical Examiner and next of kin notification.

At this time no one has been charged in connection with this incident.

    sad… the somerville tax database lists janice arruda as the owner…

    maybe they own it and rent it out.. who killed him lived there.. or visited..

    or the all were former students at shs.. maybe it was over a girl.. look –

    there hasant been a murder here in a long time.. we want answers!!!!!
