19 Kent Court, Somerville

A single family home was purchased for $875,000 and the new owners tore it down to build three new homes. The pictures show the house being torn down, and what’s left now – a hole in the ground. It seems as though the entire Kent Court is going to look so totally different than before, with all the new homes replacing a lot of older ones.

I came across this article today. It immediately brought tears to my eyes. My parents bought this home in 1940 and lived there until they died. They raised six children there and eventually had 24 grandchildren. I was left the house after my mother died and lived there until 1988. I had hoped a family member would have wanted the home but they did not. Why would you tear down a beautiful colonial built in the late 1800s to build a newer home. Somerville has turned into a city where only the very rich can afford. What a sad state of affairs.
