On Monday, July 18, 2016, DPH Life Safety Code Surveyor arrived unannounced to perform the Somerville Home’s Life Safety Inspection. It brings me great pride to state that we were deficiency free!

It certainly is not an easy feat to keep this building up to code, and compete with for-profit entities, but for over 118 years we have done just that! These past couples of years we have been blessed that the Somerville Chamber of Commerce allowed us the opportunity to benefit from the Taste of Somerville. Donations from our sponsors Winter Hill Bank, Clifton Larson Allen, Costello & Landrigan, JJ Sullivan & Plumbing, and Maureen Oliver have allowed us to renovate the resident bathrooms, air conditioning, sprinkler systems, flooring, painting, etc.

I want to thank all of our staff involved with the success of this survey and for ensuring that we can provide exceptional care to our residents.

The Somerville Home is a private, non-profit, level IV rest home. The Home was founded in 1898 and has been at the same location at 117 Summer Street, Somerville, since 1927. The Home is conveniently located near public transportation and is within walking distance to several shops and the Library. We are between, Union, Porter and Davis Squares. We offer private rooms to all our residents, and we accept MassHealth Standard and EAEDC.

We urge you to schedule a tour today to learn more about our community, the residents we serve and the option for loved ones to stay with us for Respite care when you vacation. Please call 617-776-0260 and ask for Kelley Sferrazza, Executive Director.
