A Revere man running from an unpaid cab fare entered a stranger’s home on Michigan Avenue Sunday and hid inside a closet, police said.

Richard Doucette, 23, told a cab driver who had driven him from Quincy, he was going to get money but never returned, police said.

Police found a lock on the door at 21 Michigan Ave. broken and the resident there gave them permission to search the home. Officers found Doucette hiding in a seated position in the closet, police said.

The victim said he had never seen Doucette before, police said. Doucette was intoxicated and told officers he was in the closet waiting for a friend, police said.

Doucette tried to pay the fare with his credit card but no funds were available, police said. He was arrested and charged with evading taxi fare and unarmed burglary.
