Pedestrian hit by stolen car in Somerville

Two suspects were arrested Friday after fleeing in a stolen vehicle and crashing it into a median at Lombardi Way under Interstate 93, at which time a pedestrian who was crossing the street was struck by the vehicle.

According to reports, a state trooper queried a vehicle traveling along Mystic Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. and learned that it was reported as stolen. Before the trooper could affect a stop, the vehicle (a Jeep) took off as if evading pursuit of police.

A short time later, the crash occurred and the two individuals fled from the scene on foot. The were immediately apprehended by police, who arrived on the scene in time to make the arrests.

Police have reported that the two suspects are a male, 18 years of age, from Arlington and a 19 year old female from Malden. The other passenger was an underage female. Both suspects are expected to be facing charges.

The victim reportedly sustained non-life threatening injuries and was taken To Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

Somerville Police and State Police are currently investigating the incident.
