Tuesday night at City Hall, the Board of Aldermen met in caucus to vote the new President and Vice President of the Board.

By unanimous vote of all the alderman they elected to once again name Alderman At Large William “Bill” White as President for the fourth consecutive year and Alderman Ward 7 Katjana Ballantyne for Vice President for the second year in a row.

Normally, over the years there is always a fight for these positions and at times it has been very vocal and has caused major shifts in the Board itself, involving various alliances.

This year, in an absolute vote of confidence, Bill White and Katjana Ballantyne were once again honored by their colleagues.
Ward 4 Alderman Tony Lafuente was quoted as saying, “I am honored to be part of a Board that thinks of doing the people’s work ahead of their own personal ambitions. This is why Alderman White and Ballantyne have been re-elected. President White has done a great job as and will continue to do so.”

The official vote will be taken and will go into effect on the night of the inauguration ceremonies in January, right after they are sworn into office.
