In partnership with Union Square Main Streets, Union Square Station Associates (US2), Somerville’s master developer partner for Union Square’s revitalization, today announced its “Union Lunch” summer series showcasing delicious lunch fare from a different neighborhood restaurant each Friday through September 18th on Union Square Plaza.

Sponsored by US2, the events will be free to the public and will feature live music by local bands and lawn games while local businesses host workshops and classes. A rotating selection of local restaurants will be on site offering lunch for purchase. The events will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

“Union Lunch is a great opportunity to enjoy the best Union Square has to offer – fantastic cuisine, eclectic music, interesting businesses and community,” said Greg Karczewski, president of US2. “We hope this regular Friday gathering will help shine a spotlight on our local business community, add additional daytime energy to the Square, and bring people together for an early start to the weekend.”

“Union Lunch will be a uniquely Union Square experience, so bring your friends, family and coworkers to enjoy the festivities this Friday and every Friday for the next ten weeks,” said Esther Hanig, executive director of Union Square Main Streets.”

The first Union Lunch will take place this Friday, July 17 and will feature dishes by Nepali and Indian restaurant Momo N Curry, music by the Somerville Ukulele Club, and jewelry-making demonstrations by BeadKreative.

Weekly updates advertising details of upcoming lunches can be found on US2’s website at www.us2unionsquare.com/unionlunch.
