A Somerville real estate broker was arrested at her Peabody home Monday and charged with embezzling $7,200 from a client trying to buy an Everett home.

Kandy Farkhanda Shah, of 13 Abby Ellen Lane, Peabody, was arrested on a Somerville warrant Monday and charged with broker embezzlement, larceny over $250 by false pretense and larceny over $250.

On Monday, police said Shah was a flight risk. She was arraigned and released at Somerville District Court.

Shah is the owner of K Realty at 367 Broadway in Somerville. Her broker’s license had already been revoked before the arrest for unethical behavior in past real estate deals.

The victim, a 31-year-old Somerville woman, gave Shah the $7,200 for a deposit on a single family home at 47 Madison Avenue in Everett, police said. She then asked Shah to provide documentation of the sale’s approval which Shah allegedly refused to do, police said. When the deal did not go through, Shah refused to refund the woman’s money, police said.

During the investigation, Shah allegedly refused to speak with police.
