Ward 2 Alderman Maryann Heuston (pictured here) turned in her certification papers this week, qualifying her to run for re-election.

A genuinely down to earth and really nice person, she is very popular in her ward. It is hard to find anyone who does not like her.

Only one potential candidate pulled papers since last week, Philip Michael Mitza, from 5 Autumn St., who is seeking to run for mayor.

Certified this week since last report are Mayor Joe Curtatone, Alderman At large Bill White, and Ward 3 Alderman Bob McWatters.

For School Committee, certified this week is Lee Erica Palmer, who is running for Ward 3 School Committee.

There is still time to take out papers to run for office. Remember, you need to go to the Election Department at City Hall to sign up, and they will give you the paperwork.

For Mayor 250 plus 50 registered voters, Alderman at Large 150 plus 30 to certify, for Ward Alderman 100 plus 20 and for School Board it is only 100 plus 20.

You have until the end of this month to take papers out.
