somervillelogoSomerville’s Senior Planner to succeed Hayes Morrison in OSPCD. Rawson played key role in SomerVision, Somerville by Design station area planning initiatives.

Somerville Senior City Planner Brad Rawson has been selected to head the Transportation and Infrastructure Division in the Office of Strategic Planning & Community Development (OSPCD), Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone and OSPCD Executive Director Michael F. Glavin announced.

A planner in in OSPCD since 2007, Rawson was instrumental in developing the City’s SomerVision Comprehensive Plan and Somerville by Design efforts, setting the stage for Somerville’s development future and gathering wide acclaim for the processes, while managing more than $2 million in planning funds for the department. Rawson succeeds former Director Hayes Morrison.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Brad as our Director of Transportation and Infrastructure. Brad has been an invaluable member of our team for the better part of this administration, and has taken every opportunity to help move this city forward,” said Mayor Curtatone. “His extensive work with SomerVision and Somerville by Design as well as the Inner Belt planning initiatives involved residents and community stakeholders from all aspects of our City and have produced key guiding principles for Somerville’s future. He will be a tremendous leader and advocate for our ongoing and exciting transportation projects.”

Rawson is a Somerville resident, and holds a Masters in Planning from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Vermont.

The City of Somerville will conduct a search to fill the Senior Planner position.
