This past Saturday evening at the Masonic Hall, 125 Highland Avenue, the new officers of Somerville Fraternal Chapter #136 of the Order of Eastern Star were installed.

About 100 members and friends attended the 2015-2016 Installation. A fine dinner which was prepared by the members.

Those installed for this year were Worthy Matron Mrs. Susan Robinson and Worthy Patron Mr. Michael S. Podymatis (Past Grand Patron of the Order in Massachusetts), along with other officers: Associate Matron Mrs. Alison Bell, Secretary Ms. Amanda Bell, Treasurer Mrs. Joan Albert, Conductress Mrs. Judy Podymatis, PM, Associated Conductress Ms. Sarah Donovan, Marshall Mrs. Ellie Manning, PM, Organist Mrs. Shaenaus Graff, PM, Esther Ms. Rachel Donovan, Electra Ms. Valarie Donovan, Wader Mr. Kevin Conley & Sentinel Mr. William Manning.

The Installing Suite consisted of Sister Jean DeSisto, Past Grand Matron, Installing Grand Patron Bro. Joseph DeSisto III, Worthy Grand Matron, Installing Grand Chaplain Sister Elaine R. Wallace, PGM and Installing Grand Marshall Sister Joan Atkinson PGM.

The Chapter which a few years ago celebrated its 100th anniversary is one of Somerville’s oldest and most active fraternal organizations and is made up of both women and men.

The chapter has some very committed members who are very active both locally here in the chapter as well as with the statewide organization, which does a lot of charitable work in the community.
