The Navy Band Northeast Pops Ensemble will perform during Somerville’s Independence Day celebration on Thursday evening July 3 at Trum Field on Broadway. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. The Pops Ensemble will perform at 7:30 p.m.

Comprised of 45 talented professional Navy musicians from across the country, Navy Band Northeast’s Pops Ensemble performs a wide variety of musical styles, specializing in traditional concert band literature, popular standards, jazz and patriotic favorites.

Under the direction of Lieutenant Commander Carl Gerhard, Navy Band Northeast is 1 of 13 official bands of the United States Navy worldwide. The band is attached to the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the Northeastern United States.
