Somerville is pretty lucky to have two people heading up the Somerville High Adult Education classes, they are Principal Sophia Carafotes and Scott Weaver,Vice Principal. Both are very nice and very open to ideas on new classes that can be offered at the high school. If you think you have an idea or business you want to offer the city’s residents then call the high school and ask for either Sophia or Scott. Speaking of classes offered,  this is a bargain and a half, Drivers Ed Summer session at the High School. The course is 10 days,  Monday and Thursday, offered by Pleasant Auto School and SHS Adult Education.

Well we finally went to Daddy Jones the other night and tried out the various little appetizers, one dish that was so outstanding was the Mac & Cheese. WOW if you haven’t tried it yet, get down in Magoun Square and try it out … you can’t get enough of it, its crazy good and a great place to hang out for a little while. We recommend it highly, the Mac & Cheese!

Are you already sick of the silly slogans we are hearing for the various candidates running for public office? Instead of boasting their platforms and what they want to do so we can make a decision on that we only hear so far stupid slogans. Slogans that are frankly kind of demeaning to the voters in general, at least that’s our opinion. Drop the slogans candidates and tell us what you want to do, simple. On our blog, let us know if you agree and what is the silliest slogan you’ve heard so far!

The city budget is carefully going to be scrutinized over the next several weeks, all the departments will be submitting them, and the Board of Alderman will be looking close at all the sources and we hope certain contracts that are  awarded will be done on a basis that is fair to all, don’t we! Taxes have gone up and yes fees are taxes with another name, have you checked out the cost of coffee at DD here in the city and the tax that goes to the city of Somerville? Cheaper to get a coffee over in Medford isn’t it? We will be following the budget process very closely and will be keeping you posted.

Ran into an old friend and great guy from an old and large East Somerville family, good old Steve Buckley, still lives in East Somerville, nice guy some of us have known him for decades and he’s never changed a very nice sincere guy with that East Somerville sense of humor. Oh you didn’t know that East Somerville had a different sense of humor? Just look around and most of the outstanding personalities are from East Somerville, including that well known waitress Patty, she’ll set you straight.
