Somerville High School will host FAFSA Day Massachusetts, a College Goal Sunday program this Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 1-3 p.m. All high school seniors and other adult students considering attending college during the 2014-2015 academic year are encouraged to participate in this free event.  Financial Aid counselors from area colleges will be on hand to help seniors, parents and guardians complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students are asked to register for FAFSA Day online at www.FAFSAday.org, or by telephone at (877) 424-7627.

“We consistently hear that one of the more stressful parts of the college application process is the financial piece, often the uncertainty of what financial assistance might be available to students,” said Somerville High School Headmaster, John Oteri. “This event is a great opportunity for students and families to get free assistance with this critical piece of the college application process so that students can then focus their time and efforts on putting together the strongest college applications possible.”

By the end of the afternoon on Sunday, students will have completed this federally required form for all students seeking financial aid assistance for college, and have it ready to submit to colleges throughout their college application process.  Families are encouraged to visit www.FAFSADAY.org for more information and a list of documents to bring.

FAFSA Day Massachusetts is part of a national College Goal Sunday program which provides free help to students and their parents/guardians in completing this important financial aid application. The program is now in its 10th year of existence.
