COURAGE
I stepped outside,
Into a sheet of cold rain,
The sky a hazy grey,
The wind stirring among the trees,
The trees look like crooked hands,
With palms raised and fingers splayed,
Accepting the rain,
As if it was their Eucharist,
Their communion with God,
I realize nature is a part of God,
As well as a part of me,
It is simple epiphanies, like these,
That give flowers
The courage to bloom.
